Net Neutrality : Probably the word about which you might have heard people talking about on various internet portals. It is constantly being searched by the people and some have already been aware of it and rest it is spreading right now across all over the web.
& It’s not like rumor or something folks, it is important to now about it too because the future way of you using the internet depends upon this and if appropriate complaints and steps are not taken at this moment of time then certainly it’s gonna be “WE” people, who use the internet, gonna be the sufferers, or to say, we “NETIZENS of India” will be at loss. So, enough hitting around the bush, let’s start with what it actually is.
What is Net Neutrality ?
Net Neutrality is one the biggest talked about issues globally by the telecommunication companies and recently, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is also in the process of finalising the changes made to it, which are gonna be a landmark for the telecom authorities.
Some of the key-aspects of the net neutrality are :
- All the internet service providers should give the people using internet equal access to any website, content or applications despite of their original source.
- Under any circumstances, the internet provider from whom you buy the internet pack, should control the usage of the data for the user to use it, it is the sole choice the user in what way he/she wants to use it.
- All the website co-exist without interfering the other and all the websites are accessible at the same speeds and no particular website is to be favoured or given preference too.
- All the website and content available shall be treated equal for all and the user shall not pay any extra money to get faster speed for a particular website/ service available online.
How net neutrality is going to affect you ?
In India, Net Neutrality till date doesn’t exist legally as such but the big telecom companies have adhered to it as of untill now. But with the internet horizon expanding manifolds the telecom giants are looking forward to encash the oppurtunity and trying to control the traffic. Now, in the present scenario big telecom giants (especially Airtel and Vodafone) went to TRAI and asked them to block apps and websites in their own ways so they can charge money from both consumers and businesses, thus, violating the net neutrality.
The absence of net neutrality is going to change the way in which users look upto the internet and the freedom of the user to access any website in random is gonna be at stake.
What should you do for preserving net neutrality ?
People from all over the country as they are being aware of this are raising their voices to prevent this from happening. TRAI put a consultation paper on 27 March,2015 asking the reviews of the people of India about this change and the last day to submit the feedback has been kept in the tight deadline of 24 April.
All you have to do is that you can just open any of the links given below and just with two clicks you could send your answers to TRAI to that 20 questions, thus defending the freedom to use the internet, in whatever way desired.

or you can directly write to TRAI at advqos@trai.gov.in about what you think about this issue.
Resources have quoted that over 3lakh emails have already been sent in this regard to TRAI and more support is asked from you. SO please do it at the UTMOST IMPORTANCE, even ask your friend to reply and raise your voice, before it get’s too late to do anything.
