For years, Starting from steam engines using coal as fuel to present era of petrol/diesel engines, there is another era of green fuel is waiting for us.Yes,this true, Soon automobiles will run on this conventional source of energy which has been in research for many years and finally has reach a level of testing in real life.

Automobiles will run on green fuel, made from water and air, and this source of energy(alternative of petrol/diesel) will act as a turning point in auto industry.This green fuel named as Audi’s ‘E-diesel’.

German automobile manufacturer Audi has invented a new fuel for internal combustion engines that has the potential to contribute significantly to climate protection that why we call it GREEN FUEL.German maker Audi with partnership with clean tech company SUNFIRE set up a plant in Dresden, Germany which will pump out 160 litres of the synthetic diesel every day in the coming months.

First batch of GREEN FUEL or E-diesel produced last month on April 21st 2015 is also has been tested by Germany’s Federal Minister of Education and Research Johanna Wanka who supported this invention and put a few liters of the fuel in her work car, an Audi A8.Johanna Wanka said “Fuel using CO2 as main content is a huge success and huge step forward for sustainable transport and also this whole is backed by automobile giant Audi which is even more exciting”.

According to the reports of one of the top 100 companies in clean technologies worldwide SUNFIRE shows that its properties are superior to fossil fuel as it doesn’t contain sulphur and fossil oil which make this fuel eco-friendly. Sunfire-CTO Christian von Olshausen says: “The engine runs quieter and less toxic waste are being created”

Cetane number is very high (roughly 70) of this E-diesel and power-to-liquids technology reaches system efficiencies of about 70 per cent,according  reports of Sunfire.

How it is made ?

Raw material required for making this innovation is water and carbon dioxide renewable energy sources.Production  is created using a three-step process.

 

• Energy used for production of the E-diesel comes entirely from renewable source of energy such as wind, solar and hydro-power.
• Then this energy used to split water into oxygen and pure hydrogen through process of electrolysis(Decomposition of water (H2O) into oxygen (O2) and hydrogen gas (H2) due to an electric current being passed through the water).The oxygen is released into atmosphere and hydrogen is left for further use in reacter.In Reacter hydrogen and filtered CO2 (which is coming from climeworks) in a two stage process produce CO, hydrogen and water.Blue crude is obtained which is comparable with crude oil.
• According for application Blue crude is being processed in refinery and product after refining is what is we calling green fuel E-diesel.Now,Green fuel is ready to use in automobiles.
